Mother, Author, Businesswoman, Model, Athlete.
I am Ivana.
I grew up in Gottwaldov, Czechoslovakia, a town just south of Prague. As a child, my father noticed my athletic talent and began training me, focusing on skiing. At the age of six, I joined the ski circuit and won the first downhill race I competed in. My father enrolled me in a Communist training camp for child athletes when I was 12. I skiied competively through high school and continued competing after I graduated. Shortly thereafter, I met another professional skier, George Syrowatka, and fell in love. Like me, he was also a student of Charles University in Prague and a member of the Czechoslovakian ski team. I was a prized skier for the university and my country. I then immigrated to Canada where George owned a ski boutique and sporting goods store. The we traveled together and to earn extra money and enjoy the sport we both loved, we were ski coaches for teen ski racers and instructors on the weekends. But after a few years in Montreal, I wanted a career.
I began modeling for Audrey Morris, the top modeling agency in Montreal at the time. In the summer of 1976, my agency sent several models to New York to promote the Olympic games held in Montreal. A night on the town led us models to an overcrowded, trendy restaurant where we were immediately seated at a special table; compliments of a man named Donald Trump.
We were married in 1979 and after a year of marriage, Donald Jr. was born. Over the next five years, I gave birth to two more children; Ivanka and Eric.
While married to Donald, I became the Vice President of Interior Design for the Trump Organization. I was responsible for all of the interior design of Trump's real estate; The Grand Hyatt Hotel, Trump Tower, Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City where I supervised construction, interior designed and eventually managed the project for the Trump organization. I was Chief Executive Officer and President of Trump's Castle Hotel and Casino for five years and then Chief Executive Officer and President of the Plaza Hotel, New York for f0ur years. Under my leadership, The Plaza was recognized as "The Best Luxury Hotel in the USA."
As my marriage and troubles were printed on the covers and front pages of publications everywhere, we were separated in 1990 and our marriage ended in divorce in 1992. Although people wondered what I would be without Donald, I have established two companies-Ivana Inc. that manages my appearances and Ivana Haute Couture which markets my products, fragrances and accessories which are sold over the internet. Ivana Inc. has matured into a multi-million dollar business.
I take great pride in being a woman and I strive to promote leadership and motivation through my work and image.
